EFT

Means emotional freedom technique. This is a type of psychological therapy that incorporates sequential rhythmic tapping on acupuncture meridians. While saying a set of phrases unique to a particular problem or event.

This system was created by Dr. Roger Callahan a psychologist. The treatment theorizes that you can effectively change the subconscious brain by tapping on acupuncture meridians. Wether its physical pain, PTSD, Phobias, anxiety or depression or any other malady.

I was introduced to this therapy several years ago and honestly thought it was a bunch of crap. Since that time, I have become a practitioner and advocate. I'll tell you why.

My first exposure was in therapy. I had my first anxiety attack about 10 years ago. Having not had an anxiety attack before I thought I was dying. When they released me from the emergency room, I was convinced that I was misdiagnosed and I, in fact, was a deadman walking. Luckily, for me I had been seeing a therapist months prior to this event. I called him and we made an appointment. We talked and made subsequent appointments. On the third visit he introduced me to this tapping technique. I said I had heard of it but thought it was baloney. To which he replied, "Go to you tube and check it out." So I did and it helped.

Fast forward to 2014. Dr.Jack Eason Rowe, a psychologist, professor and author of several books, is one of the key researchers in the development of this treatment. He lives in Coweta, OK. Guess what? He is teaching EFT at a Unitarian church for no charge!  I've been attending for about 12 weeks and now I am a believer/practitioner.

Ok so I haven't had any anxiety attacks in the years prior to taking this class but the cool thing is EFT treats just about everything. Let me explain.

I read The Tapping Solution by Nick Ornter. It's clearly written in regular language so anyone can follow along easily. The book talks about the different ailments that ordinary people have and how EFT helped them and in most cases cured them. The book goes on to give you instructions on how to do this yourself and improve your life. I can honestly say it works if you work it! That feel-good vibe I was telling you about in my last blog‚ I attribute to using EFT.

I was having nonspecific pain and pain in my hands from my chosen occupation. Gone and or greatly reduced. Why? EFT. Improvement in my personal relationships?  uh huh EFT.

I saved the best part for last. How long do you think it takes for this therapy to work on a problem? In my personal experience treating a headache, the pain was gone within minutes. Shoulder pain: within an hour. Back pain: couple of days.

But wait! There's more… in next week's blog!

peace and love,
chuck.
