Emotional Freedom Technique continues to amaze
Hello again. This week I will be talking about what’s happening with me and EFT. If you remember, EFT is a technique used to change the brain’s subconscious. This is done by tapping on acupuncture meridians in a particular sequence. In a previous post I talked about how EFT has helped people overcome their phobias and anxieties. Some studies show that physical pain can be reduced or eliminated too. My personal experience has been very positive. So much so that I’ve been chatting about it to my patients. Well, that sparked some interest and resulted in a group that now meets weekly to learn and practice tapping to address real life problems.
Not your ordinary support group.
I have some patients who are involved with a sport called Dressage. Dressage is horseback riding at its highest level. While they are seeing me for Myofascia Release therapy, they are taking part in the weekly group to do tapping. Dressage is as much a mental activity as it is physical and with the mental game come challenges. For example, being thrown, kicked, and stepped on leave psychological injuries that don’t go away after the bones and bruises heal. So, we are trying EFT to work on these issues.
I got this idea after reading Dr. Jack Eason Rowe’s book EFT and Golf. The book is designed to help golfers improve their games and get over "the yips". "The yips" is a phenomenon that occurs when a golfer finds him/herself playing poorly and can’t make easy golf shots, like 3-foot putts. "The yips" can be debilitating and has cost many top professional golfers championships.
So, as we head into these meetings, here’s my logic - if EFT can help golfers get over "the yips" why can’t it help a Dressage rider overcome the challenges of their sport?
Stay tuned and I’ll keep you posted on the progress of this group.
peace and love
